Late holiday shipping crunch have you down?

With the turkey wearing off from last week’s holiday, this is the time of year when shippers everywhere start panicking. By now, you should have your cargo packed up and ready to go, if not already out the door, but if that’s not the case, you’re not alone, and you’re certainly not out of options.

Here are two things you can do to ensure your goods arrive on time and within your budget.

If you’re pressed for time to meet your deadlines because of a late-game curve-ball, or perhaps you procrastinated, it’s not time to panic. If anything, this is when you get to show off your shipping chops!

1. Switch from ocean to air

Without a doubt, air is the way to go if you’re short on time. Not only do planes travel much faster than their ocean counterparts, but there are SO MANY routes available to you that aren’t if traveling by sea.

If you’re going to do this, make sure you have as much lead time as possible. A TSA certified known shipper” has a lot more options available to them, and if you’re not certified yet, you need a freight forwarder who can help you with this, like ETC (get a quote HERE). The reason being that they have access to more than just cargo planes for your freight. Some passenger flights also keep room for folks like you, and by having the right crew behind you, you gain access to all of those great routes.

This process usually takes around 15 days, and isn’t guaranteed, so if this is of interest, get in touch with your freight forwarder today, so they can get you cleared through homeland security.

2. Make it partial air if money is an issue

Maybe money is an issue. Okay, no problem, then let’s take a look at your inventory and determine which MUST arrive before the end of the year, and what can wait.

Partial shipments may be the way to go, especially if your arrival deadline is nonnegotiable.

Since air shipments have different requirements, here are a few links that should help you figure out how you can break up your shipments, and what can and can’t take flight:
