Posted by Reid Malinbaum on Fri, Jun 02, 2017 @ 06:16 AM

If you are moving overseas, one of the challenges you may face is how you will relocate your personal belongings both large and small. One item in particular you may be inclined to bring with you is your car.

There are two ways to ship a vehicle overseas: ocean freight or air freight. Most people will elect to ship via ocean freight because the cost of air freight for a large object often exceeds of 5 times or more than the ocean freighting. However the downside to ocean freight is it can take more than a month for your car to arrive at the intended destination. If time is of the essence, air freight might be the right choice for you.

Important Information About Shipping Vehicles Into The United States

Posted by Reid Malinbaum on Fri, Jan 20, 2017 @ 04:26 PM

Your guide to shipping vehicles internationally.

We had a client recently, who was shipping 4 vehicles from Bolivia to Long Beach, California. The twist was that they weren't exactly what you would call "operational."

The owner's intention was to restore them upon arrival, but for now they had no wheels, and were missing major pieces to their engines.

This significantly limited their options, because shipping vehicles is a lot easier when you can roll them into their containers. Limitations or not, however, they were still considered autos, which meant jumping through the usual hoops along with this curve-ball.

Here's how we handled it, and all of the important information you need to know about your auto import(s).

Shipping to Vietnam: 2 bumperless vehicles

Posted by Reid Malinbaum on Tue, Oct 04, 2016 @ 10:23 PM

From Los Angeles, California to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam:

There doesn't seem to be a shipment type that causes more unnecessary stress for the owners of the cargo than when shipping autos of some kind. In a lot of ways, auto freight is a complicated undertaking, but when you've been in the business as long as I have, it's almost second nature.

We recently had a client shipping two trucks to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, from Los Angeles, California. Shipping a single vehicle is quite a bit different from when multiple vehicles are present, and not many people realize that. So, for those of you needing to ship multiple vehicles, I thought would help by showing what you need to look out for.

Moving Your Life Overseas? Shipping to Sweden is as Easy as Paj

Posted by Reid Malinbaum on Thu, Sep 08, 2016 @ 03:02 PM

It can be easy as pie, anyhow:

Finding the right freight forwarder when a shipper wants to move their autos & household goods inside one ocean container is not a small task. Not to mention, going through a mover is hideously expensive. Interestingly, your shipment is going to be handled through a licensed freight forwarder anyway, so you're actually better off going direct if you can find one that offers other complimentary services.

Over the last 30+ years of working in this industry, we have seen a lot of problems arise from people shipping their vehicles and household goods overseas, trying to improvise their way through more complicated tasks. On the other end, many give up and ship through movers with a moving cost 3 times more than what an international freight forwarder can do it for.

How to Identify the Right Specialty Freight Services

Posted by Sean Chartier on Mon, Jun 29, 2015 @ 08:53 AM

SIMPLE is a STATE OF MIND When it Comes to Specialty Freight Services

We had a great opportunity for a complex & interesting shipping project with a client recently, which stuck with me, because it is a true testament to how challenging it can be to move items overseas and across borders. I think a lot of people take it for granted, because at the consumer level, we go to the grocery store to buy our food, the gas station to buy our fuel, and a dealership to buy our cars.

The public doesn't see what goes on to make these modern conveniences... well.. convenient. If you were to flip on the TV and settle on your favorite sport, like car racing, for example, you just get to see fast cars, their famous drivers, and hundreds of thousands of fans watching as they scream around the track.

But how did that car get there? Who shipped it, and why did they choose that particular route?

Our client happened to fit this bill. They were planning on attending a series of races in Europe, and needed freight forwarding services to help them make it happen.

Are you planning on securing specialty freight services to move your items overseas or across borders? Then these considerations are for you!
