How to Find the RIGHT Approved Freight Forwarders

Posted by Reid Malinbaum on Tue, Oct 06, 2015 @ 05:30 AM

Asking for "approved freight forwarders" is like asking for beef in your hamburger...

If you're biting into a hamburger for the first time, and never knew what they were made of before sinking your teeth in, you're very likely to ask, "what's in it," right? After all, we don't want to take any chances with the food we put into our bodies, because what if it's something we have an aversion to or know that our bodies can't handle?

The same should go for your frieght shipping. If you've never done it before, you should ask about what is involved. Are you using secure facilities? Are your shipments properly crated and packed? Are your freight forwarders approved by the Federal Maritime Commission? And are they doing everything you need and expect them to do?

If you don't ask these questions, you may find yourself in a sticky predicament, so let me help you understand their implications and other questions you should be asking.

TSA Certified Known Shippers get the Cheapest International Shipping

Posted by Sean Chartier on Tue, Sep 01, 2015 @ 07:30 AM

Being a TSA certified known shipper will help you get the cheapest international shipping rates because it opens many doors and avenues not available to those who aren't.

In response to the events of September 11, 2001, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) instated new regulations in order to ensure the safety of domestic and international air flights. The TSA was made responsible for instating these new regulations and programs as well as overseeing all transportation by truck, rail, ocean, and air.

One of the programs the TSA instated is the Known Shipper Management System (KSMS). It is one of TSA’s most important implementations in order to strengthen air cargo security by establishing procedures for air carriers, indirect air carriers, and freight forwarders to distinguish between known and unknown shipping agents that deliver their cargoes for air transport.

What does this mean for securing the cheapest international shipping available? It means when you comply with these regulations, you'll have access to more opportunities that result in lower shipping rates AND better routes.
